In Class One we are proud to be providing all of our children with a safe, happy and stimulating environment where we continually support them so they can be helped to reach their full academic, social and emotional potentials. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, offering a curriculum which is bespoke to each child as we can follow their individual interests and we can tailor the learning to suit the pace of each child. During their time with us, children will learn to ‘take a risk to be the best that they can be’, developing independence, become problem solvers, be supportive with their friends and always demonstrating kindness.
Class One is a mixed class with nursery and reception children. The children are able to join us from two years old and we offer flexible half day and whole day sessions to suit the needs of each child. The reception children have the opportunity to mix and interact with the rest of the school during break times and lunchtimes as a way to ensure a gradual transition into Class Two. The nursery children stay within the nursery environment with familiar adults during these times.
The children within Class One are encouraged to take part in some adult led activities, for example a small focused maths or phonics activity and they are also responsible for their own learning during child – initiated time. The adults within the setting are able to encourage each child to develop their learning through careful support and encouragement during these times.
Parents of Nursery children are able to see all the wonderful activities that they have been exploring within the classroom on an online learning journey called Tapestry. It also enables parents to post observations, so we can see some of the lovely activities that you have enjoyed at home which can provide us with an insight into what children are like outside of the school environment. Other regular insights into our wonderful class can be seen on our closed Facebook group for all nursery and reception children.
