Class 2 - Key Stage 1
Welcome to all pupils and parents to our class page.
In Class 1, children will take part in challenging, interesting and enjoyable experiences through independent learning and focused tasks. The ability to work independently is important for transition between Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 then to Key Stage 2. In our classroom we aim to support pupils to develop into happy and resilient workers.
Our morning sessions concentrate on building language and maths skills, along with developing reading skills. Reading with your child daily is crucial and really important. You can also help reinforce their maths skills in many ways during everyday activities such as baking, daily walks, journeys to and from school, board games etc.
Afternoon sessions are dedicated to the remainder of the curriculum, which is delivered through a topic-based approach to allow for a creative curriculum.
We take regular trips out of school to enhance children’s learning through real experiences. Residential visits play a huge part in our school curriculum along with termly topical trips and workshops.
A class newsletter will be sent out to inform you of when a topic has changed and useful information about the general routines of the day.
Home learning will take place in many forms: spelling lists for years 1 & 2; craft projects linked to topic; research; and not forgetting daily reading.
I look forward to working with you and your children. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
